PSL: Haris Rauf’s misconduct towards teammate Kamran Ghulam

On Monday, the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2022 final league game between Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi was not without its good amount of drama (February 21). After the match concluded in a dramatic draw, Peshawar Zalmi managed to scrape out a win via the Super Over.

However, there was a bit of action on the field as well, with Haris Rauf of the Lahore Qalandars slapping his teammate Kamran Ghulam after picking up a wicket.

When Ghulam tried to work Haris Rauf's full delivery away on the leg side, he dropped Peshawar Zalmi's Hazratullah Zazai. Fawad Ahmed collected a wonderful catch on the penultimate delivery of the same over to send Mohammad Haris back cheaply. As everyone congratulated Haris Rauf on his wicket, Ghulam approached him for a high-five, but the pacer slapped him in anger.

Despite the fact that Ghulam was smiling, the bowler gave him a stern look on several times. Nevertheless, the slap seemed to energise Ghulam, who produced a superb run out to dismiss Peshawar skipper Wahab Riaz in the 17th over. Haris Rauf then approached the fielder and gave him a hug.

Fans have taken to social media to comment regarding Rauf’s behaviour. Some had said he is “disgraceful” and some, “distasteful”. One netizen wrote he felt sad for Kamran Ghulam and another said Rauf “needs to get his acts right”. Another supporter wrote “shame on you” for doing that to his teammate.

It's unclear whether Haris will be penalised for slapping Ghulam during the game. His teammates expressed no animosity.

On the other hand, the Qalandars have achieved their best-ever group stage result and now have the advantage of an additional match in the playoffs. Meanwhile, Shoaib Malik, Zazai, and Haider Ali all contributed to Peshawar Zalmi's 158 for seven in their allotted 20 overs.

On Wednesday, the Qalandars begin the playoffs with a thrilling Qualifiers match against the Sultans.
