KKR’s Shreyas Iyer willing to bat at any position in upcoming IPL

Shreyas Iyer, the captain of the Kolkata Night Riders (KKR), has stated that he is willing to bat at any position in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. KKR paid Rs 12.25 crore for Shreyas Iyer in the big auction. Previously, the 27-year-old was the captain of the Delhi Capitals in the IPL.

Iyer commented on the team’s official platform that one can't just go around acting like an anchor. It can also differ. On any given day, he could be a power hitter, and another guy may serve as an anchor. He remarked that situations and positions might shift depending on the circumstances, and one can't depend on a single player to carry the innings. If it's your day, you should go all out to ensure that the team wins the game.

The right-handed batsman said that essentially, all members of the squad must accept responsibility for going out and winning the game without relying on others. He believes that No. 3 is his position since he enjoys batting there and has done so for a long time. He has been really adaptable; he is happy batting anywhere the team decides him to, and he is eager to try new things.

Shreyas Iyer is particularly happy with KKR's competitive and fearless mentality, and he expects his team to maintain that level of intensity.

He further commented that KKR likes to unleash the punch from the first ball and put the opponents on the back foot. And, of course, the team needs to have that mindset. He added that when he goes out to bat, he has the same mindset, and when he wants to lead as a captain, he expects the same level of passion from his team.

He remarked that if the same message comes from the coach, it will be more powerful because the coach and captain are the ones who provide the majority of the energy. Iyer said that he is quite pleased with the thinking and strategy that KKR has developed over the years.

The IPL 2022 season will begin on March 26 with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) taking on top team Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the season's first game.
