The Windies will also play a three-match ODI series against Pakistan there. Cricket West Indies have announced a 15-member squad ahead of the two series.
This is Nicholas Pooran's first series after being captain for a full term. Keacy Carty has been included in the 15-member squad as a surprise. In addition, pacers Jayden Seales and Shermon Lewis have been named in the ODI squad for the first time after their Test debuts.
Shimron Hetmeyer, who became father recently, has taken a leave of absence to be with his child. The team's experienced campaigner Jason Holder has also been given rest. Evin Lewis has also been left out due to lack of fitness.
Caribbean chief selector Desmond Haynes, however, expressed hope for the newcomers. Regarding Carty's inclusion and the rest, Hynes said, ''I was fascinated to see Carty. We are quite optimistic about the way he manages to extend the innings. Hopefully, given the opportunity, he will understand the importance of representing the West Indies. ''
''We also have a very good team of young fast bowlers who have shown their skills,'' Hynes added. ''We want to use these tours to give them a chance in the 50 over format. Seals has done very well in Test cricket, on the other hand, Lewis is returning to the West Indies set-up with a great performance. ''
