Lucknow Super Giants recruited Andrew Tye as an alternative for Mark Wood

Andrew Tye has been signed by the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as a replacement for injured England pacer Mark Wood for the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. During England's first Test against the West Indies earlier this month, Wood sustained an elbow injury. Tye has played 32 T20Is for Australia, taking 47 wickets.

The 35-year-old will join LSG for INR 1 crore after appearing in 27 IPL matches and picking up 40 wickets. LSG, who will be making their IPL debut this season, will kick off their IPL 2022 campaign on March 28 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai against Gujarat Titans.

Tye is an experienced T20 expert who is also familiar with the IPL's rules and procedures. In addition, he won the purple cap while playing for Kings XI Punjab in the 2018 edition of the league (now Punjab Kings). As a result, the right-arm bowler has a lot riding on his shoulder.

Wood has also performed admirably in his recent T20 appearances. Consequently, his departure left a big vacuum in the LSG squad, which Tye has been brought in to address. Tye has 251 wickets in 182 T20s, including a few of five-wicket hauls, according to his statistics in the shortest international format.

Tye has also scored a hat-trick in the IPL. In LSG's fast bowling department, the veteran bowler will team up with Avesh Khan, Ankit Rajput, and Jason Holder. It should be mentioned that LSG will play in the IPL for the first time this season, and all attention will be on these key ones. KL Rahul will be in charge, and he will be eager to lead his squad to victory.

In the batting order, Manish Pandey, Quinton de Kock, and Evin Lewis will provide support to Rahul. Lucknow's strong point this season will be its all-rounders, with players like Krunal Pandya, Deepak Hooda, Marcus Stoinis, and Jason Holder all capable of playing several roles.

LSG will begin their season on March 28 against Hardik Pandya's Gujarat Titans.
