Quinton de Kock looking forward to Southern Brave this summer

De Kock was one of the stars of The Hundred's inaugural season last year, while local Hampshire batter Joe Weatherley has also been signed by the Brave following an impressive 2021 Vitality Blast performance. Meanwhile, Ahmed was a key member of England's Under 19 World Cup-winning team earlier this year, and Surrey left-armer Dan Moriarty will pair up with Ahmed in the spin department.

Tahlia McGrath, a breakout star in Australia's Ashes and Women's World Cup victories this winter, and Jo Gardner, winner of the edition of The Hundred with Oval Invincibles, will lead the women's side. Gardner's partner and Southern Vipers captain Georgia Adams, as well as Southern Vipers Academy bowler Freya Kemp, and opening batter Ella McCaughan, will be joining them.

Quinton De Kock commented that he is looking forward to returning to Southern Brave this summer to defend their championship. Last year, it was an honour to be a part of the team, and it was incredible to see the Ageas Bowl crowded with children enjoying a great time.

Georgia Adams stated that the first year of The Hundred was a game changer for the women's match, and she is excited to be a part of it again this year at Southern Brave. It was not easy to leave the Oval Invincibles, but she is looking forward to experiencing the atmosphere at the Ageas Bowl and perhaps making it two wins in a row.

With a number of renowned players announced, The Hundred will have fans on the edge of their seats with world-class sport, as well as delivering additional family-friendly entertainment off the pitch, said Sanjay Patel, Managing Director of The Hundred. He added that they have the top players from across the world competing in the women's championship, including Meg Lanning, Beth Mooney, and Sophie Devine, and they are convinced that they will set a new standard for the women's domestic game.

He also commented that it is nice to witness a mix of fresh overseas players like Kieron Pollard and Andre Russell, as well as returning stars like Quinton de Kock and Sunil Narine, on the men's side. It's also fantastic that some of the top white ball players in the country, like Tom Banton and Joe Clarke, have been identified and picked up early.

Families and young people especially enjoyed the mix of fast-paced cricket with music and family entertainment off the pitch, which will only get better and louder this season.

On Wednesday, August 3rd, the men's team will face Welsh Fire in the first game of this year's competition at the Ageas Bowl. The women's squad will play three double header days, the first of which will take place at the Ageas Bowl on Friday, August 12 versus London Spirit. The men's and women's teams will face Manchester Originals on Thursday, August 18th, and Trent Rockets on Thursday, August 25th, respectively.
