The Rajasthan Royals defeated the Lucknow Super Giants by three runs

On April 10, the Rajasthan Royals(RR) kept their calm to defeat the Lucknow Super Giants(LSG) by three runs at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai in IPL 2022. The RR bowlers placed brakes on LSG's momentum, derailling their run chase, while defending a not-so-difficult total on a good batting surface.

Jos Buttler and Devdutt Padikkal accumulated 42 runs after being asked to bat first by LSG captain KL Rahul, but once they were gone, RR started losing wickets at regular intervals. RR appeared to be on the verge of being reduced to a low score but West Indies star Shimron Hetmyer's blistering knock of 59 runs off 36 deliveries propelled them to a fighting total of 165/6.

In response, LSG got off to a bad beginning, losing captain Rahul for a duck and pinch-hitter Krishnappa Gowtham shortly after. In response, LSG got off to a bad beginning, losing captain Rahul for a duck and pinch-hitter Krishnappa Gowtham shortly after. Yuzvendra Chahal removed him for a well-made 39 runs off 32 deliveries in the 16th over, and it appeared that LSG would lose their way.

Marcus Stoinis, the star all-rounder, then demonstrated his power-hitting prowess and lowered the target, but with no help from the other end, he was unable to complete the task, remaining unbeaten on 38 runs off 17 balls.

LSG captain commented that he didn't see that (the ball that took him away from Boult), and if he had, he would have intervened. He has to hand it on to him. It was a great game. They have a strong roster with plenty of bat and ball options. They believed they had a chance even when they were 20-odd for three. Rahul added that finally, Stoinis' performance was outstanding, and the fact that he did so in his first match of the season will boost his confidence. Holding Stoinis back was always the plan; they know how dangerous he can be in the final five overs. LSG will make an effort to work harder and cope with the pressure better. One terrible game will not alter everything, but it will be a valuable learning experience for them.

RR captain stated it makes him happy to be top of the board. It all depends on how Kuldeep Sen bowled in the first three overs. Sanju Samson gets the impression that Sen has done well and that he's ready to go execute his wide yorker that he's been working on during the offseason. The captain also remarked that Chahal is a player who can be given the ball at any point in the game, from overs 1 to 20. If I may say so, he is the greatest legspinner India has ever seen. They should employ him more at the end, when the stakes are higher.
