West Indies confirmed tour to Pakistan after last year’s delay

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has released the itinerary for the West Indies' June visit to Pakistan. The 'Men in Maroon' will tour Pakistan for a three-match One-Day International series beginning on June 8, 2022. The series' second and third ODI matches will be held on June 10th and 12th, 2022, respectively.

The players from the West Indies are expected to arrive in Pakistan on June 5, 2022. The series was supposed to start last year, but due to a Covid-19 outbreak in the West Indies camp, it was delayed until June 2022.

The PCB stated that the ODIs were included in the West Indies' December 2021 trip to Pakistan. However, after five Covid-19 instances were reported on the West Indian side, they were postponed with mutual consent. The West Indies have also signed up to play three Twenty20 Internationals in early 2023, with a schedule to be announced later.

The series will be part of the International Cricket Council's World Cup Super League. In this competition, the top seven teams, including hosts India, will automatically qualify for the 2023 World Cup. In the months of October and November, the World Cup will be staged on the Indian subcontinent.

However, the Babar Azam-led Pakistan team's immediate attention would be on dealing with the Australian team. Three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and a Twenty20 International (T20I) will be played between Australia and Pakistan. The ODI series will begin on March 29th, 2022, and end on April 2nd, 2022. The series' only T20I match will take place on April 5, 2022.

Pakistan and Australia have just completed a three-match Test series before the limited-overs assignment. After a 2-2 tie in the first two Tests, the Australians thrashed Pakistan by 115 runs in the last Test to win the series.
